UPVC doors and windows

Doors should operate the same opened or closed, if not the hinges and keepers need adjusting. We recommend the fitting of sash jammers to both doors and windows for extra security.

Wooden doors

These should have a good quality British Standard dead or sash lock fitted combined with a Yale night latch (as required by insurance companies). Back doors should be fitted with star bolts as well as the above.

Patio doors

For added security, sliding patio doors should be fitted with 2 key operated bolts which stop the doors being lifted or forced open.

Keys

Never leave keys in locks overnight, place them out of sight and never carry your car keys with your house keys. Fit a key safe for spare keys.
